Wow, I can't believe it is already October. And, not only is it ialready October, but we're almost halfway through the month! Where has the time gone?
Looking back over the last couple of months, it doesn't feel like the year has slipped away. We've done so much and had so much happen. So many great camp memories and good times with friends. It has already been a truly amazing year and we're so excited to see what the last few months hold.
As for September, we closed out last month with out Family Fishing Weekend. Little did we know it was the last fishing weekend of the year, as fishing on all of our local rivers closed on the 8th of October. And we had a great time. The Family Fishing Weekend isn't just for fishing anymore. We had some intrepid clammers go out on Friday night, a movie marathon in the lodge, and, of course, plenty of river fishing. I am definitely looking forward to going back next year.
We also had the priviledge of hosting several quilting groups and other ministries with a host of our alumni volunteering in the kitchen. It's always a blast when our volunteers come out. Overall, this autumn has shaped up to be pretty amazing.
So, what's next at Camp?
We're closing in on winter, though it definitely doesn't feel like it with the weather we've been enjoying. Which means our bookings and retreats are starting to slow down and our winter maintenance is ramping up. We just spent the weekend looking at how we can improve and restore our cabins. Our plan is to make them more secure and comfortable over the next few years. We have also started fundraising to build an open air basketball court by next summer. If you want to give to either of these projects, please feel free to email contact@campbethel.net to find out how.
Or, if you want to come hang out with us, we have a few things still coming up this winter. Sirius Black Friday will be the weekend following Thanksgiving. This is a Harry Potter Retreat put together by one of our Alumni. There will also be the women's crafts and care weekend the second weekend of December. Check out the retreats page for more information.
That's all for now. Have a great Fall!
